I have been an art teacher for many years, working in Salford, Bolton and Wigan schools. My most recent post was Head of Art, Gifted and Talented co-ordinator and Subject and Professional Mentor for PGCE trainee teachers at Bedford High School, Leigh. I decided to leave full-time teaching to become a freelance "Artist-Educator" and can offer to your school projects a wealth of experience with the majority of year groups from reception to sixth form and trainee teachers. I have been involved with a number of cross-curricular projects and always planned my Gifted and Talented Summer Schools around a theme topical for that year. The spiritual, moral, social and cultural aspects of the curriculum have underpinned my planning over the years. I firmly believe in the power of first-hand experience and working with original art and artefacts to inspire creativity, and these have been a vital ingredient in my projects. It has therefore been a great pleasure to plan and deliver workshops at "The People's History Museum, Manchester" over the past two years. I am happy to work in Museums, Galleries and Schools. Please contact me to discuss workshop provision on a theme tailored to your curriculum. |
